Key News 2021 Oct 18, 2021 - Shipmates! I have been in contact with Al and
Diane Singleman concerning a bench for the Cold War Memorial at Patriot's Point
in Charleston SC. I got in contact with the Memorial POC, Rusty Pickett, and we
have ordered a bench. Al and Diane Said that we have more than enough money in
the Reunion Fund to pay for this so donations will not be asked for. The bench
was ordered on 15 Sep 21 and should be done in 10-12 weeks. It will be put in
place before our Reunion in May 2022. I will be going to Patriot's Point soon to
take pictures around the Memorial and post them on our two Facebook Groups and
this web page. As a group, we can vote on where we would like the bench to be.
It can't be under a tree and has to have room for a boom truck to put it in
place. Jeff Burke RMCS(SS) Ret USS FRANCIS SCOTT KEY SSBN657 BLUE October 18, 2021 - Regretfully, we have to announce the passing of another shipmate, Lance Scott Hartman on June 6, 2021. Save the first week of May, 2022 (exact dates to be announced soon). It will be great to get together again after this long break. Jun 11, 2021 - Received the below e-mails regarding the health of Key shipmate George Lefebre 69 - 74 E-Div. Good afternoon. I am Dennis M. Dunn MM3, DD789 My wife and I were classmates and are friends with George & Val Lefebre. We still visit them every two weeks in Jackson, Wyoming. I am sorry to report that George has severe dementia and an MRI shows that many areas of his brain have atrophied. He no longer remembers his days on the boat or in the Navy. Hell, George doesn't remember us and we drank a lot off beer together. If you have a reunion this year drink a glass to him, and Val could use your prayers. Sincerely, I responded to Dennis that I would put his message on the web site and be sure to toast George at our next reunion. He responded: Thank you for the kind reply. George and Val are headed to Australia in early June. His daughter is to be married there at the end of June. Val is Australian and she told us last weekend that they may stay. George is noticeably worse and he can receive much more intensive help in Australia than here. If Sandra and I hear anything we will let you know. If you are in Indianapolis around the 9th of September 2021 the beer is free. Sincerely, Please keep George in your prayers as he goes through this most difficult time of his life. And also do not forget to include his Key wife Val, a true angel. Jun 11, 2021 - Unfortunately we must add more shipmates to Eternal Patrol.
